This part will be about The Jackson 5, the group where Michael Jackson started out with his brothers. I started liking them after I liked Michael.
History of The Jackson 5
The Jackson 5 existed out of 5 brothers; Jackie, Tito, Jermain, Marlon and Michael. The group comes from Gary, Indiana. They started performing in 1964, at that time the youngest brother, Michael was only 6 years old. They performed in talent shows but also played on parties and in clubs.
In 1969 they got signed to Motown and released their first studio album 'Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5' their single 'I Want You Back' became a number one hit in weeks. Only a few months after the CD was released they became huge pop successes.
A year later in 1970 they released 3 CD's the first CD 'ABC' sold over 5.7 million copies. The second CD for that year was their third CD named 'Third Album'. In October 1970 they released 'The Jackson 5 Christmas Album' although they were Jehova Witnesses. (Jehova Witnesses don't believe in celebrating birthdays or christmas)
In 1971 they again released 3 CD's to start with 'Maybe Tomorrow' which sold over 3 million copies worldwide, then came 'Goin' Back to Indiana' which sold 2.6 million copies. At the end of the year they released their first greatest hits CD named 'Greatest Hits'.
In 1972 they released 'Lookin' Through the Windows' and sold 3.5 million copies.
'Skywriter' came out in 1973 and sold 2.8 million copies worldwide. They also released a live CD named 'The Jackson 5 in Japan' this CD only came out in Japan. Their seventh album was released in September named 'G.I.T.: Get It Together', the album sold over 2 million copies.
In 1974 'Dancing Machine' came out.
In 1975 'Moving Violation' was released. The last 2 CD were disco music.
In 1976 the band left Motown and got a deal with Epic. Jermaine stayed with Motown and youngest brother Randy joined the band. Because Motown had all the rights to the name 'The Jackson 5' they changed their name to 'The Jacksons'.
In 1976 they released their first CD under Epic which was their 10th album named 'The Jackson' the CD sold more than 10 million copies.
In 1977 they released 'Goin' Places' which sold half a million copies.
'Destiny' came out in 1978. This CD was also produced by the brothers.
Their 13th CD came out in 1980 named 'Triumph'. The CD sold 2 million copies.
In 1981 they released a live CD named 'The Jacksons Live!' and sold over 2 million copies.
In 1984 the CD 'Victory' came out and sold over 7 million copies. This is the only CD that features all 6 brothers.
In 1989 the last Jacksons CD came out named '2300 Jackson Street' which was the adress they lived on in Gary, Indiana. This CD sold over half a million CD's
